Review: "Falling for You" by Becky Wade

I've had a handful of favorite writers over the years, writers whose books I absolutely cannot wait to get my hands on, writers whose novels are the first on my tongue when I'm asked for book recommendations. The first was Ann M. Martin—my Babysitters Club addiction ran deep! Then I moved on to Lori Wick and then to Karen Kingsbury. Six years ago, I discovered Becky Wade, and I've never looked back. Not only do I love her name (😉), but I cannot get enough of her books ... so much so that I sometimes reread them, which is something I rarely do!

So, obviously, when I was given a chance to read and review her new novel Falling for You, I said yes!

Famously beautiful model Willow Bradford is taking a temporary break from her hectic schedule to work as the innkeeper at her family's small-town bed-and-breakfast. She was enjoying the peace of her hometown, Merryweather, Washington, right up until she came face-to-face with Corbin Stewart, the man she loves to hate. A thoughtful rule-follower by nature, Willow threw caution to the wind four years ago when she entrusted her heart to Corbin--and suffered the consequences when it all fell apart.

Former NFL quarterback Corbin is forceful, charming, and accustomed to getting what he wants . . . except where Willow Bradford is concerned. Unable to forget her, he's never stopped regretting what happened between them. When their paths unexpectedly cross again, he's determined to make her give him a second chance.

When a decades-old missing persons case finds Corbin and Willow working together, they're forced to confront their past and who they've become—and whether they can risk falling for one another all over again.

Falling for You is a wonderful continuation of Wade's Bradford Sisters series. This book focuses on oldest sister Willow, a famous model who has returned to her hometown to run her parents' bed-and-breakfast for a few months. Unfortunately for Willow, her ex-boyfriend Corbin, the man who completely broke her heart, has moved to the area. After Corbin's 12-year-old niece Charlotte learns that the story she had always been told about her great aunt's death is untrue, Charlotte recruits Corbin and Willow to help her discover what happened to her Aunt Josephine, and they find themselves falling for each other all over again.

Willow and Corbin's romance is so sweet, yet it also features secrets, regret, and heartbreak. As they work through the pain of their failed relationship, they learn to appreciate each other—and God—on a new level. And the resolution is, of course, perfect 😊.

By now, I should know to expect more from a Becky Wade book than "just" an incredibly engaging, chemistry-filled romance. Still, I found myself surprised by how emotionally invested I became in the non-romance plot lines. I was reading during my lunch break when I reached the resolution of the Josephine mystery ... and I had to stop reading, as I started tearing up. Best to wait until I could cry in the privacy of my own home! Then at the end of the novel, Corbin's relationship with his father brought me to tears, and those tears continued until I closed the book with a sigh and a smile.

One thing I absolutely love about this series is that all three sisters' love interests were introduced in the first book, True to You. (If you haven't read True to You yet, run to your nearest bookstore ... or surf on over to Amazon ... and get yourself a copy!) While I enjoyed checking back in with Nora Bradford and her boyfriend John, the main couple from True to You, I absolutely ate up every single scene that included Britt Bradford and/or her best friend Zander. They'll be the focus of the third book, and it cannot arrive soon enough.

With its sigh-inducing romance, intriguing mystery, and realistic look at faith, Falling for You is a book not to be missed. 5 stars.
